How to be Emotional Intelligent


Emotional intelligence is all about managing your emotional state, so that you remain unshakable despite any trigger and it plays a big role in managing our emotions and it becomes even more important as emotional state equals productivity.




This article focuses on how to get rid of any bad or negative emotional state.

First let me tell you about how we get into any bad state so if you are in a bad state that is because you chose that state and you are giving more value to those bad or negative feelings in spite of having all those good feelings around you.

In order for any feeling to remain in your body it has to spin in a particular direction inside your body else it will exit and that feeling is gone -- Richard Bandler( co-creator of NLP).

So what exactly we do ???? Any Guesses...

We choose some feelings( can be good or bad ) and we spin it over and over in a loop which ultimately changes our emotional state.

So the big question is how to get rid of any bad feelings and the answer is really simple, stop spinning these feelings, don't get so attach to it. All it takes is your one small decision and decide not to spin it anymore and ask yourself the following questions.
  • Which emotional state you want to be in? Make sure it is some positive state(e.g. happy, excited etc).
  • How important it is for you to be in this state( on the scale of 1- 10)?
  • Are you willing to take required actions in order to change your state?
I call these three questions the initiators because they initiate the process of change and your mind begin to open up to various possibilities.

Once you are aware of which emotional state you want to be in. Now think about any time from your past where you was in the best of that desired emotional state, relive that moment like you are living it just right now in front of you, become aware of your surroundings, become aware of the sounds around you and become aware of your physiology ( how you are holding your body), even notice your breathing patterns and now become aware of the feelings you are experiencing while you are breathing in and spin it on and on in a continuous loop inside your body and when you get to the peak of this feeling, give it any colour or gesture so that you can remember it whenever you get in touch with this gesture or colour.

Your work here is not done yet, relive two more moments from your past where you had that same good feeling and associate it with same gesture or colour, so that this particular gesture or colour become the part of the natural process of initiating this good feeling.

Now once the above part is done, all you have to do is remember this gesture or colour or this feeling and start spinning it and within a minute you will start feeling good.

This is one of the approach of dealing with bad emotions. Now all you have to do is decide which emotional state you want to live in as your decision can change your state.
